Well, I didn't drown. The swim actually went alright, but I definitely have misplaced any natural ability I once had. I ended up doing a mile (1650 yards) of mixed stroke work and drills. I was only there for about 30 minutes. I am not sure how I ever swam for 2 or 3 hour practices without losing my mind. I am looking forward to getting back in the water again next week, and then aiming for 1-2 times/week after that.
A funny thing happened as I was leaving. I was swimming at a local high school, and after I was done, a few high school boys stopped me and asked if I went to school there. I was briefly flattered and then realized it has been a VERY VERY long time since I was in high school. There next question was if I was a teacher there.
Tomorrow will be another long run of 11 miles. It is actually the last time that my 1/2 marathon plan calls for a double digit run. I need to see what Jennifer's plan calls for and may do at least one more 10+ mile run before the half marathon.
